CHRC, OHCHR to Hold Regional Workshop on the Establishment of National Human Rights Institution

PHNOM PENH: The Cambodian Human Rights Committee is collaborating with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Cambodia in organising a regional workshop on the outlook for the draft law on the establishment of a National Human Rights Institution based on the Paris Principle. The virtual workshop is scheduled on Thursday to be presided by the president of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee, Keo Remy and UN Resident Coordinator, Pauline Tamesis.

Over 80 participants are expected to participate in the workshop including representatives from different embassies in the kingdom, members of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights and commissioners of the National Institutions of Human Rights from Malaysia and the Philippines.

The activity called, “Regional workshop on perspectives from the National Human Rights Institution on drafting a Paris Principle compliant law is aimed at sharing experiences and gathering inputs for the draft law on the establishment of the National Human Rights Institution in Cambodia.
